Croatia closes border crossings; migrants continue to stream through

 

Helpless to stem the flow, Croatian police rounded them up at the Tovarnik railway station on the Croatian side of the border, where several thousand had spent the night under open skies. Some kept travelling, and reached Slovenia overnight.

Migrants have been streaming into Croatia for two days, their path to western Europe via Hungary blocked by a metal fence, the threat of imprisonment and riot police who fired teargas and water cannon on Wednesday to drive back stone-throwing men.

Hundreds evaded Croatian police, trekked through fields and reached the border with Slovenia by train Yesterday, part of a desperate and determined march westwards that is dividing Europe.

Only the main Bajakovo crossing, on the highway between Belgrade and Zagreb, appeared to be open to traffic today, while Slovenia stopped all rail traffic on the main line from Croatia.

Around 150 migrants spent hours overnight stranded at the Dobova railway station on Slovenia's side of the border. Centre, Delhi government and MCD responsible for spread of dengue: Congress

"The Congress will hold a demonstration outside Kejriwal's residence on September 17 to protest against AAP government's failure to check alarming number of dengue cases in Delhi,” Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said in a statement.

Asha Bhosle-inspired USD 1.5 million Indian restaurant to be opened in Britain

The restaurant at the Peter Street displays portraits of Bhosle and her family, along with beaded fringing inspired by her stage costumes and jewellery, media reported on Tuesday.

Bhosle, 82, will be among the guests at the VIP launch party scheduled on Thursday and the restaurant will officially open its doors on Friday. The restaurant wears a simple look with purple as accent colour. It is decorated with booths clustered along one wall and lighting hanging from the ceilings.

RJio launches unlimited free wi-fi at select places in Mumbai

Devotees visiting Lalbaug Cha Raja, Andheri Cha Raja and Sahyadri Cha Raja pandals during 11-day long festival will be able to access high speed wi-fi internet services through their mobile devices, the company said in a statement.
  
"This year, we are privileged to join the festivities by offering 'Jionet' high speed wi-fi Internet service...as we want visiting devotees to sample the digital ecosystem we are building consisting of high speed data networks," Reliance Jio spokesperson said.
