Bangkok blast: Malaysia arrests eight suspects

"So far we have arrested eight people, four of them are local. They were arrested for involvement in human trafficking activities," media quoted Deputy Police Chief Noor Rashid Ibrahim as saying.

The suspects were arrested in Kuala Lumpur and the northern state of Kelatan bordering Thailand. So far, there was no concrete evidence or confessions of their direct involvement in the attack, Noor Rashid said.

Army Major dies during training exercise in Rajasthan

“Major Dhruv Yadav belonged to the Armoured Unit which was engaged in a routine training exercise near Pokhran in Jaisalmer district for past some days,” Defence Spokesperson (Rajasthan) Lt Col Manish Ojha said.

Golden Bolt stuns medical science to set 100m world record

People taking addiction treatment are more likely to smoke: Study

The findings suggest that substance abuse programs do not sufficiently address tobacco use issues.

"When people come into treatment for drugs and alcohol, we are not treating another addiction that has a significant chance of eventually killing them, which is tobacco use," said lead researcher Joseph Guydish, professor at the University of California, San Francisco, US.

Apple moving forward on building a car: Report

The Wall Street Journal says Apple has set an internal timetable for a project, code-named Titan, that involves development of an electric vehicle. The newspaper said Apple has set a 'ship date' of 2019, although that could just be a target for engineers to sign off on the design — not when a car would be available for sale.

Croatia closes border crossings; migrants continue to stream through

 

Helpless to stem the flow, Croatian police rounded them up at the Tovarnik railway station on the Croatian side of the border, where several thousand had spent the night under open skies. Some kept travelling, and reached Slovenia overnight.

Migrants have been streaming into Croatia for two days, their path to western Europe via Hungary blocked by a metal fence, the threat of imprisonment and riot police who fired teargas and water cannon on Wednesday to drive back stone-throwing men.

Hundreds evaded Croatian police, trekked through fields and reached the border with Slovenia by train Yesterday, part of a desperate and determined march westwards that is dividing Europe.

Only the main Bajakovo crossing, on the highway between Belgrade and Zagreb, appeared to be open to traffic today, while Slovenia stopped all rail traffic on the main line from Croatia.

Around 150 migrants spent hours overnight stranded at the Dobova railway station on Slovenia's side of the border. FTII row: Protesters detained outside I&B Ministry in Delhi

Students from FTII, Pune, Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia squatted on the road outside Shastri Bhavan here which houses the I&B Ministry and were forcibly removed by the police which claimed that they had not taken prior permission for the demonstration.

HC upholds mobile internet ban decision during Gujarat quota stir

A two-judge bench of acting Chief Justice Jayant Patel and Justice N V Anjaria rejecting the petition said that the decision of the state government was 'just and proper.' The HC order came after the state government's reply in which it said the mobile internet was banned to stop rumours being spread.
